The Covid-19 vaccination campaign and the coming of spring offer hope and renewal to all.  Every step we take contributes to the alleviation of isolation felt by many of our seniors. In recognition and appreciation of our seniors, the Comité de concertation des aînés of Haut-Saint-Laurent (Seniors Committee) is launching a special edition of its Let’s Visit Our Seniors Challenge in the Haut-Saint-Laurent region called Sowing hope! This challenge is planned in collaboration with the Age-Friendly Municipalities and the Générations engagées project and will be held from April 1st to April 30th, 2021.

From April 1st to April 30th, we invite the population of Haut-Saint-Laurent to participate in this challenge by sending a small plant accompanied with inspiring words in a card. In addition to this gesture, we invite the community to reach out to the seniors through a weekly conversation (by phone, facetime, letter, etc.) throughout the whole month. At all times, please respect the guidelines in effect related to the health crisis.

The Comité de concertation des aînés du Haut-Saint-Laurent (Seniors Committee) will distribute 325 plants to seniors living in low-income housing and private residences.

This gesture is intended to brighten up the community, give hope and break the isolation of seniors. It symbolizes the bond of kindness that unites us and makes us grow. Our hope is that this initiative will mobilize the sectors of the community and strengthen the ties between generations and offer hope to seniors.

As part of its project En Bonne Compagnie in the Haut-Saint-Laurent, the Comité de concertation des aînés du Haut-Saint-Laurent (CCAHSL), initiator of the challenge, wishes you a spring filled with health, resiliency and hope.  This initiative was made possible thanks to the financial contribution of the Member of Parliament for Huntingdon County Claire IsaBelle.
